Bridging the Rural Connectivity Divide


The highly reliable, ruggedized and remotely managed cellular repeater solution helping to bridge the rural connectivity divide.

The evolution of technology in the Agricultural sector has seen an ever-increasing demand for industrial devices to be connected, farmers can now use their smartphones to remotely monitor their equipment, crops and livestock. Technology promises improved productivity, quality and yield, enhanced sustainability, reduced wastage and the ability for farmers to make better decisions.

With the remoteness of farming locations in Australia, getting connected is often a challenge in itself. It is widely accepted that connectivity, usability and customer service are the main barriers to adoption of emerging technology in the farming sector.

‘Digital connectivity has long been an issue in regional Australia and continues to be. The Cel-Fi GO RMOE solution removes this roadblock to adoption of digital agriculture.’ – Paul Boyce, Powertec Product Manager.

The Cel-Fi GO RMOE (Remotely Managed Outdoor Equipment) is a highly reliable, ruggedised and remotely managed cellular repeater solution that leverages the Cel‑Fi GO product combined with a cellular modem to establish an Internet connection to Cel-Fi’s cloud management platform. The product is designed to extend the cellular network to providing control and alert capabilities to remote and rugged locations that are not readily accessible to service technicians.

‘Everyone relies on their mobile phone working, they expect the network providers to give you network coverage wherever you are, whether that’s in the basement of a high-rise building or at the bottom of a valley on a farm. ‘But it’s not economical for our telecommunications companies to reach every possible place in Australia, and they are not required to do so.’ Ran McDonald, Head of Sales.

The Cel-Fi GO is the first cellular coverage solution to feature industry-leading 100dB system gain. Cel-Fi is the only repeater that has been tested, authorised and approved by the carriers for use on their networks in Australia.
