

From the year that was in 2020 which saw the derailment of scholarships made available by Angus Australia, 2021 marks the ramping up of scholarship opportunities available for young members of the beef industry through the Angus Youth Program.

Angus Australia has announced several opportunities available for members to take part in industry courses, conferences, and development programs.

Focusing across the whole supply chain, these scholarships, provide opportunities to further personal development and understanding of the industry.

The first scholarship opportunities awarded during 2021, were for three Angus Australia members to visit Beef Australia, Rockhampton, Queensland in early May.

Recipient Damien Thomson, Berremangra, NSW, said that attending Beef Australia, highlighted that the various opportunities for young people in the beef industry.

“Attending an event like this exposes you to those opportunities and connects you with industry leaders,” said Mr Thomson.

“I have gained a number of contacts, and a head full of ideas. These scholarships are the best way to make that first step, helping you get involved, start meeting people and learning and developing your skills and knowledge.”

Angus Australia Breed Development Officer Jake Phillips encourages young members of the industry to utilise the upcoming opportunities.

“The scholarships from Angus Youth provide excellent assistance in furthering young peoples’ personal and professional development within our industry, through identifying and providing members the chance to attend industry leading events and educational activities,” said Mr Phillips.

“I highly encourage young members of the beef industry to apply, as these events provide not only a chance to grow their understanding of the industry, but also a multitude of networking opportunities.”
