The state’s leading farmer group has told a Senate Inquiry that plant-based products should but use words like “meat”, “beef”, “lamb” and “milk”.

NSW Farmers told the Senate Inquiry into Definitions of Meat and other Animal Products that alternative proteins will be part of our future, but the word “meat” needs to be protected.

The inquiry is expected to release its findings in February.
